Professor Nancy Cromar


Adjunct Professor


Professor Cromar was appointed as Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) in July 2013. She has previously worked at Edinburgh Napier University, the Scottish Agricultural College and the University of Adelaide before coming to Flinders in 1999. Prof. Cromar has previously held positions of leadership in the School of Medicine, the School of the Environment and as Associate Dean (International) for the Faculty of Science and Engineering.


BSc (Hons) Science with Management Studies  (Napier University, Edinburgh, 1989)

PhD in Aquatic Microbial Ecology (Napier University, Edinburgh, 1995)

Thesis title: Biomass separation and computer modelling of high rate algal ponds.

Honours, awards and grants
  • UHY Haines Norton award for 'Outstanding Individual Environmental Health Professional of the Year' (2005); Environmental Health Australia (formerly Aust Inst of Env Health - AIEH)
  • AIEH Special Award (2005) in recognition of services to the AIEH in development of policy for national accreditation of education programs
  • Postgraduate Researcher Award (1991); Napier University, Edinburgh
